Mike was a media darling. Maybe not so far as interviewing like a polished and prepped slimeball running for federal office but everyone loved him because of his ability. Try to think back to VPI days too.

Much as I hate to wade into this never ending topic, it should be pointed out there are fallacies in your choices of comparables.

QB is a position historically dominated by white players. Furthermore, it is viewed as a leadership position. So which of the above guys fits that comparison? None. The closest is Tiger, but he is in a sport of individual performers.

The quarterback is the "American dream". He's the guy who dates the head cheerleader, the "leader of men", the field GENERAL, the ALPHA MALE. He is the extension of the coach. And while you have other leaders on the field offense and defense, the QB is the only one who is literally "protected" on the field of play. It should be noted the quarterback position was created and constructed during a period of segregation in the NFL.

Wait, I don't really want to get into a race thing but are you suggesting none on these people were hated? A good portion of this list were indeed hated in their playing days and still are.

OK for everyone else that is interested...

On the Colin Cowpoo show, Rick Reilly talked about Cam for a minute:

-said Cam took exactly 54 minutes to meet with the media after coach Rivera. Went on to explain that the media writers have deadlines and Cam should know that and should hurry up out of the shower. Said Peyton and AR don't do stuff like that. Also said that the team had to wait on the bus for Cam to leave.

-said Cam feels entitled, is a diva

-Colin asked if Cam can be great, Reilly said he has to grow up and stop being a diva first

-Colin said he has a source that he trusts that told him other players in the locker room feel Cam is a diva



Reilly came off sounding like an entitled brat sports writer. Complaining about fugging deadlines.

Cam is not perfect...yet. He needs to develop into a better leader and locker room presence. I firmly believe that will come with time.

so these folks who spent a whole draft season labeling Cam as a Diva is going out of their way to prove that he is because they can never be wrong. Nope, that isn't a diva attitude at all.

If he does feel entitle that is the fault of the coached for making him the face of the franchise in his second year. I understand he is the QB, but Brady, Manning (Eli)Rothinburger (forgive the spelling)are the franchise QBs of there teams but their coaches are the face of the franchise and their organization reflex their coaches personality moreso than their QB. RR is weak minded who throws Cam out there to the media and doesn't nothing to take the heat off of him. Even Rex Ryan although not consider great bring the attention to himself and doesn't put his QB out there for the media to feast on.

What are you talking about? The attitude of this team is not Cam's. This is the same team spoilt team that was under Fox.

Wake up..These sorts writers were the same folks who were relentlessly attacking everything Cam did during the draft. They seem to still have it out for Cam because he isn't what they make of him but they are to arrogant and ego driven to admit they are wrong. All they are doing is framing everything he does to try to help make their argument.

He works for ESPN. The same organization that tried to take down Cam while he was at Auburn. They seem to still have a very heavy ax to grind with Cam.

Remember many of these sports folks actually take themselves way more serious than the player these days.

All of you guys know that if Andy Dalton made the press wait for an hour after his shower to primp for his presser while his team sat on the bus and waited, we would all be talking about how much of an asshat he is.

I guess Warren Moon was right. Many of these sports folks in the media clearly has a problem with Cam. The question is why?

I can run down a list of top QB picks in the past four years who suck more than Cam or in the same catagory as Cam during their own second and third season of football. Yet you hear no such ridicule of mockery of their performances or character like you do with Cam.

I remember reading an article where Blaine Gabbert tore into Mariucci earlier this year when he actually questioned Blaine's ability as a QB. Not only was nothing made of it but the sports writers came to Blaines defense and made excuses about his game. These are the same folks who are doing everything in their power to convince folks that Cam is another VY based on nothing more than their desire to nitpick and srutinize this kid's every actions.

I won't say it's racism against Cam as much as it feels like these sport folks see themselves empowered by what they now do for a living. Today's media is no longer catering to these players and team. It's now the other way around. They now feel they can treat a player or team however they want and get away with it. Sadly, as the record has shown, many of the players these sports folks choose to take their egos out on are minority players. But I also feel they single certain players out because they know it's easy. And Cam became that easy target from his Auburn days.

With the amount of money being pumped into the NFL by the media, they want some form of control and they take it. They sit and pick which player is going to succeed and which one is going to fail. Who is to be seen as having an attitude problem and who is be seen as mature and intelligent.These sports folks create the narrative of a players image to suit their agenda. Anyone steps out of line and don't do as they want will eventually feel their wrath. IMO, the treatment of Cam by the media is very much intentional and everyone simply plays along. Isn't it funny that many of the stuff throw out against Cam seem to come those with the power to influence such as ESPN, NFLN. Even Peter King who I had respect for, seem more than inclined to play along with the power tripping mindset of those in today's media. These sports folks who u think would know better, have gone from insinuating stereotypical stuff against Cam, to downright lying on him to feed their own egos and many folks simply run with it.

What is even worst are the bottomfeeders in the sports world who seek their own attention by jumping on the bandwagon created by those at the top for their own selfish gain. In their twisted minds, they believe being lazy and simply repeating what is spewd is good journalism.

There are some folks on this site, who see themselve as part of that sports world, who seriously make me wonder what is their real agenda. Their attitude towards Cam seems clearly driven by their desire for self promotion. I guess they are desparately trying to be part of a world filled with ego driven Divas and is willing to play along to fit in.

Since I neither work for the media nor desire to cow down to anyone on this site to fit in, I wil call a spade a spade. The media's treatment of Cam is very much uncalled for and quite intentional. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to see what is going on.

Please tell me how is repeating these lies and slander against your QB going to make him a stronger leader and build confidence with your team?

You are telling the truth. What is even worst are the so called Panther fans, some with their own personal agenda sitting there feeding the beast that is the lies and condemnation of this kid.

Luck is up to 13 Ints. Where is the endless ranting about his game like it was last year when Cam had 13 Ints? The obvious hypocrisy is nauseating.

I am not saying he's without fault but it's clear the endless attack on every ish he does is beyond the pale.
