And those teams were SB contenders. Newton beat the worst team in the NFL.
I'm a big Newton fan. You're just a delusional homer.
The 2004 Eagles team was a contender, but we had just beat them the year prior in the playoffs. The 2006 and 2009 teams that beat us absolutely were not contenders. Panthers just started choking in primetime games, thats all.

And the '12 Eagles we just beat by 8 are by far the worst team in the NFL. Delhomme had some great primetime games. Newton played good but you're being a homer. Where was your Newton thread after the NYG TNF game?

Eagles are not the worst team in the league. They wont be picking #1.
Delhomme never had a MNF game as good as last night. He never threw for as many yards and he never scrambled for as many and he never had 4 TDs in a MNF game. Thats not being a homer, thats reality. Thats not a slight on Jake either, just Newton is a more talented QB at a younger age.

Pointing out that Delhomme played better teams is fine, provided you acknowledge he was surrounded by much better talent/coaching when he did.

They have one of the worst and banged up defenses in the league. They almost literally have no secondary. You saw that on the Lafell TD.

It is certainly better than the alternative... again, I am waiting for this team to step up against a legit contender.
They've "stepped up" vs the falcons and bears, both on the road. They just didn't finish. I'd argue both of those teams are legit contenders.

In order to step up, you have to win. I am with Parcels on this one, "You are what your record says you are"

I know Nnandi was playing, what about rodgers-cromartie?
He was playing, but he wasn't "playing" per se.
According to the Eagles fan sitting next to me, he'd rather be out clubbing than playing.

Then we'll just have to disagree on what stepping up is. I think of it as playing at a high level. Don't have to win to have "stepped up". For a team as dysfunctional as ours to come within 1 drive at the end of the game of beating 2 of the top 3 teams in the league counts as stepping up, in my book.

incredible.
Stop reaching KT, let's wait until something really happens.

Delhomme is still the best quarterback the Panthers have ever had, playoff berths and 4th quarter ratings. Newton is anything but clutch at this point but he defently has the skill-set to get there with some coaching and capable team mates.
You give Newton the D Jake had in his prime (and comparable OL)....I would take Newton.
You give Jake in his prime this OL, this lack of RB help, and D. Jake wouldn't be Mr. Clutch

-------------------------
Most yards passing, highest QB rating, most TDs scored. One of the best performances by a Panther QB on the big stage.
Yes he played a good game but give me a break he threw 2 Tds on blown coverages that any backup could throw.
And the opposing QB was the great Nick Foles!
Give it a rest he played good in the 3rd worst matchup of MNF teams EVER!
