I like the fact that the defense didn't give up any points in the 4th quarter. That shows growth for me. Philly had the run game going on us, but there were only 2 big plays that led to points for them. The 60 yd. run and the 50 yd. pass interference. I kinda thought the PI was BS, but I can see why they called it. Nakamura was playing the man, Norman was playing the ball. If Nakamura had just stayed out of the way, Norman has a pretty good chance to come down with it. Instead...they have at around the 10 yd line. That doesn't happen, I doubt the Eagles would have mustered more than another FG. On the run we just had a bad play. We got beat.
Philly still had a number of key starters on the field. And may I remind you that we were without three of our best players: Kalil, Beason, and Gamble. Maybe it's not quite as bad as Philly, but we had a makeshift O-line for that game as well.
It was a much needed win and we saw SuperCam on MNF. That was pretty awesome. I think the guy is turning out to be a bit egocentric, but I'd rather have him on my team that play against him, so that's respect. This kid can completely take over a football game. I liked how Cam was able to audible more at the LOS and I think he did a fine job of picking up yards with his feet. He had a game very reminiscent of McNabb, McNair, or even Steve Young. At his best, he is that style of player. But he could still be SO much better. It's scary...
I like Norman. I think he will turn out to be our starting #2 for years to come, but I don't see him getting to the #1 level any time soon. We still need a great corner across from him to make him more effective. Munnerlyn has been good-to-great this season. Another great value draft pick. Still, we are going to have to address #1CB and a FS in the offseason. Otherwise our D is in good shape.
All in all, I hope Rivera gets fired. I'm starting to get a little worried he won't. Let's say we win 2 more games (KC and Oakland)...We'd have 5 wins and I think he'd get another ride. We have a legitimate shot at winning 4 out of the last 5 (I don't think we will, but I could see a way that that could happen). What if we did finish the season with 7 wins? How could you possibly let rivera go? Would that be worse than finishing with only 3 or 4 wins? I don't know.
All I know is that when the Panthers win, everything feels right with the world. That's why I keep coming back. They keep winning, I won't complain.
