Monte Kiffin as DC?

The ONLY problem I have is this. Monte's defense requires 2 pretty good safeties. We don't even have 1 (well, 1 that can play both the run and the pass effectively). Unless we're going to upgrade BIG time at safety, his defense most likely wouldn't work, unless we continue to sodomize opposing QBs with our front 4.

You're being too nice....our safties suck

He was amazing at Tampa until the end... he's 72 years old, no thanks.

You guys are giving it too much thought. 72 years old and could work here for a few years before he retires. Not to mention, one of the best DC in the league for the past 10 years is now 75 years old (Dick LeBeau).

Kiffin's Tampa 2 got exposed so badly on a Monday night in Charlotte a few years ago that he left the Bucs at the end of that season. He took it to the college level and guess what?

He implemented it at USC, which was supposed to be a national champion contender this year, and it was exposed again. Just like anything else in this league, give the other guy enough time and film and they'll figure it out.

No, thanks.

i really dont see our LBs blitzing much, and we still play a lot of zone so it wouldnt be any different.

Yes, but we probably have to play a lot of zone to mask our flaws in the defensive secondary. We just don't have the overall talent yet to fully commit to the JJ43 defense, particulary @ OLB, SS and FS.

He was amazing at Tampa. He just resigned at USC. Since we are getting a new coaching staff. What do you guys think about him as DC?

what's wrong with the DC that we have?

A DC can only devise scheme's that his players can execute.

the smarter and better the players play........ the more stuff he can install.

McDermott has been bailed out this year by the fact that the defensive line is finally playing up to there potential. Everything else has been suspect. Really you can credit Hurney more for the success in picking up Edwards and Alexander.

did I read this right...........

the Defensive coaches suck and all credit for anything good should go to hurney?

Yes you did, a 3rd round pick, a guy cut at the beginning of the season, and a sixth round flourishing on the d line improving a defense and Hurney gets no credit for that? Think about that.....And im sure the other defensive coaches have had some credit in them developing too.

jj43 is a zone coverage defense. plus its the 2nd year we have heard this, we just dont blitz like that.
