The 49ers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick looks more like a prison inmate that an NFL quarterback, according to one sports columnist.

AOL Fanhouse's David Whitley wrote a column this week in which he bashed Kaepernick’s inked-up appearance, saying he looks like he “just got paroled.”

“Approximately 98.7 percent of the inmates at California’s state prison have tattoos,” Whitley estimated. “I’m also pretty sure less than 1.3 percent of NFL quarterbacks have tattoos. There’s a reason for that,” he wrote.

I don't see anything wrong with the comment. I've always said as much to anyone asking about tattoos. I associate them with criminals, bikers, porn stars and other people who want to look intimidating.

This view is especially common in Asia where in places like Japan they openly discriminate against people with tattoos because they feel having tattooed people around creates an uncomfortable environment for families.

While I'm sure David Whitley only wrote the article to get some attention (since he appears to behind several other David Whitleys in terms of popularity), he is an idiot. Though I think it has more to do with him being an out of touch old man than anything else

And I am shocked that you agree with him

Outside appearance, as long as you bathe regularly, and wear clothes that fit, should never matter. This is beyond stupid.

This guy got absolutely slammed for what he said (as he should have been). Apparently he would rather have qb's that "look the part" rather than act the part. As long as they "look" right it doesn't matter if they are alcoholics, womanizers, wife beaters, rapist etc. He's a retard. A significant percentage of the people in the military have tattoos, but I bet the guys linking tattoos with disreputable behavior will gladly gloss over that and keep saying "support the troops". This dude is an idiot and needs to have his fingers shortened to nubs so he can't type and pollute any more minds from the platform that AOL gives him.
