Northern Illinois to play in the Orange. Really gives the BCS more credibility.

Does have to do with the Big East... NIU only qualifies if they finish in the top 16 AND ahead of an AQ Conference Champion.. So Because...
A) The big East was garbage and Louisville finished below NIU they meet the standard.
B ) I also mentioned Ohio St. Because had they not been banned it would have been them (Undefeated top 5 team) playing Nebraska instead of garbage Wisconsin with the winner guaranteed to finish above NIU
Therefore this is made possible due to the OSU post season ban and the fact the Big East is Garbage.

The ACC championship thought they had trouble selling out the FSU/GTech game?

Glad to see a program like NIU get a shot at BCS bowl. It wasn't that long ago that people talked about Boise State like they're now talking about NIU.
Honestly I could care less either way, but that statement is not true... NIU does not compare to Boise St at all!!
1) Boise St teams were undefeated with no bad losses... this NIU team loss to a bad Iowa team
2) Boise St. Was a top 10 team with really good talent... they were talked about since early in the season. NIU is not a top 10 team and really just snuck into the BCS picture
3) Boise St had at-least one quality win while dominating their other games... Boise St would go play a Georgia, Virgina Tech or some major school and beat them, then dominate their competition in conference... NIU has zero quality wins among AQ teams and did not overwhelmingly dominate their conference opponents.
I don't mind those being happy for NIU, as I say hats off to them, they did what they needed to get in within the system... But I will acknowledged they are no where on the level of a Boise St during their runs. Remember how 1 loss for Boise St would ruin all of their chances (The two years with missed field goals at the end of games). Those Boise teams had to be almost perfect to earn their spots.

It just sucks to have a great season and you are penalized by playing in the best conf. See usc, uga, lsu,a&m.

it sucks just as hard to have a good team and be penalized for playing in a bad conference. That happens quite a bit more than this situation.Niu and boise is chevys vs fords.

The cotton, chickfila and cap one are all far superior to the BCS bowls not named Fiesta, or MNC. The possibility of an NIU upset might make me turn on that game for a minute though.
