It's the only sensible solution....everyone gets a musket

Can I put my Sig2022 mechanism in a rifled musket frame ? Is that ok ?

black powder. If someone pisses you off.....then go and load your musket. If you are still mad after the 10 minutes it takes to load....then they pry deserve to be shot

With practice you can load a musket in under a minute.

There is no numerical evidence of this being first time buyers. It is based completely off the observations of gun store owners informally asking their customers.

wouldn't matter anyway, jersey ain't virginia...

We have to restrict the conversation to the 90 day or so period between jaw dropping acts of gun violence.

Since we can never go 90 days without gun violence, I guess we'll never have a discussion?

I think it's irrelevant whether or not increased gun ownership (or # of guns) increases gun violence/deaths. The real question is what the gov's role should be in allowing people to own guns.

i posted in the other thread (why are there two threads about this btw)

i'm pretty ambivalent on the gun control issue as i see significant pros and cons to either one, but if we're going to analyze the constitutional aspect of it it's important to note that the second amendment was written in a historical context where a firearm was a muzzle-loading musket or flintlock pistol, taking at least thirty seconds between shots to reload (and that's if you're a trained expert.) There's not a technological equivalency between that and a semiautomatic handgun or rifle, and that's something important to keep in mind.

establishing what constitutes a firearm as it relates to the constitutional right to own one is pretty fundamental to this argument and it's not really discussed enough, especially when the linchpin of the gun rights argument is "the 2nd amendment says i get to have one."
