This could be critical to our success, especially if we hire a defensive head coach.


I honestly don't know who I'd want, any thoughts? ideas? names to throw around?

Jason Garrett. He was a much better OC than a HC, and paralleling the discussion of Rex Ryan as a DC, I think anytime you can get a former Head Coach and plug them in as a Coordinator (See Phillips in Houston, Rob Ryan in Dallas, McDaniels in New England, Spagnuolo in New Orleans, etc etc) it adds tremendously to the experience and leadership of your coaching staff, even if that coordinator didn't have success as a HC. Hell, just the fact that someone was an NFL Head Coach before puts them at an advantage to current DCs/OCs or college HCs, I think.

If we could lure Todd Haley from Pittsburgh that's be nice, I dunno how entrenched he is there. At the very least there's be some interesting encounters between him and smitty

What about Norv. He's probably done as a HC in San Diego. Good coordinator, though and similar enough system it won't be a total overhaul for the offense.

I don't know about that, it seems they've gone downhill since he joined imo regardless of Ben's injury the past few weeks
