Pro Football Weekly hearing Chip Kelly to the Panthers

If, after going to the trouble of hiring a consultant to make sure we hired the right GM, we then cut that GM's legs out from under him by hiring a head coach without him having any say in the hiring, I would unapologetically call this franchise the stupidest organization in the NFL.

makes sense.

cam is the prototype QB for his offense and cam thrived under a very similar system/offensive style.

i'd love it.

But, can that system/offensive style be successful in the NFL? That is the real question.

hearing and assuming are two different things, or at least they used to be.

I'm all for experimenting, but if it fails, it could set us back a long way in terms of rebuilding.

I think Chip is smart/versatile enough to be able to alter his system enough for the NFL.

Either way, there is more to being a great NFL coach than a system.

yes. it is being used and it is successful.

the pats went to him about how to run a no huddle hurry up offense and they are now using it very successfully.

teams are using spread offenses quite well and he's not locked into the read option. he uses it because it works with the personnel he has, the limited time he has with his players, and against the opponents they play against.

many teams are using concepts of his already...they are trying to imitate or at least incorporate what he does on offense and in regards to game management. he's the real deal, tho.

As I've said before, Chip Kelly would be an absolutely scary hire to me with no in between. It's either a home-run or a complete dumpster fire.

I agree

I just don't know. My gut is 100% right about 50% of the time and I've got a feeling if he goes anywhere in the NFL its to San Diego or Philly.

How could they be "hearing" anything when we don't even have a GM?

I would be ok with this hire. Gotta get a GM in here first, though. He needs to be able to bring in his guy
