Like the OP started, you can change.

Disarm all women and they you tell the families why you did it once rapes and such go up. You defend your position to all potential rape victims since you are against letting them defend themselves.

But hey, you make great points on a football website, so who cares about real life? Is rape against the law by the way?

There are other ways to protect yourself.

pepper spray
taser guns
expandable batons
key chain alarms

You don't have to have a gun to protect yourself from rape.

Actually, it's a serious post... I wasn't sure either, so I did some quick research on the British Anti Knife Campaign and came up with quite a few commercials... Disturbing ones at that...

The point is this:

Would you rather have someone invade a school with a knife or an assault rifle?

Anyone with intellectual honesty chooses the knife.

Anyone who can think past an emotional tragedy to what the country would look like with no guns is intellectually honest. Emotion and intellect are not always tied together

Anyone with intellect knows that the odds of being involved in a gun massacre is way more remote than being hit by lightning.

I estimate that 80% of models want to sleep with me.

On a more serious note, I would be interested to hear how well a woman could protect herself with mace or a taser gun. Could she not protect herself from someone trying to rape her just as well with less lethal weaponry?? Why is it so gun specific?

Fear

I would hate to be on the receiving end of a taser or mace, but the gun puts fear into people

and the quoted excerpt wasn't just covering rape it was an estimate of all crime I saw a another site that had numbers running around 60% to 80%

Good dodge.

Care to answer my question or will you just divert again?

Do you know why the second amendment exists? It is not so everyone can have guns and shoot people if they feel threatened. It was to protect a state's right to continue to have an armed militia and to prevent a President from enforcing military rule.

Not so every dick, jane, and larry could have concealed weapons.

So thats why it implicitly says the "Right of the People"
It would seem to me that if it were a states right it would say the right of the state.

Bottom line, the most dangerous weapon on the planet, is the human mind... Bar none...

Exactly, "Let cooler heads prevail", "Let's have a cooling off period", "Let's not act rashly". Individuals in the military that are displaying signs of being erratic or under extreme stress will not be given access to firearms until they are cleared by their commander and medical authorities to return to duty.

Impulsivity: Suicide is also an impulsive act. Like any other impulse, the impulse to commit suicide is transient and lasts for a few minutes or hours. It is usually triggered by negative day-to-day events. By defusing such crises and by playing for time, the health worker can help to reduce the suicide wish.

FACT: Suicide is still the leading cause of firearm death in the U.S. In 2007, the U.S. firearm suicide total was 17,352 an increase from the 2006 national gun suicide number of 16,883. The state of Illinois saw a 13.7% INCREASE in gun suicides from 372 in 2006 to 423 in 2007. Over half of suicides in the U.S. are committed with firearms.

FACT: In 2007, a total of 683 young Americans ages 10-19 committed suicide with firearms, a decrease of 11% from the 2006 total of 763 youth gun suicides. Unlike suicide attempts using other methods, suicide attempts with guns are nearly always fatal, meaning a temporarily depressed teenager will never get a second chance at life. Nearly two-thirds of all completed teenage suicides involve a firearm.
http://www.ichv.org/...d-gun-violence/

What most here are saying is there are common sense reforms we can implement (mandatory gun locks and/or gun safes) as a society to limit access to firearms by those who are not intended to have them. Significantly reducing the loss of innocent lives.

Unsecured firearms make implusive decisions to kill much easier than more complex time consuming methods.

No one is saying an individual's right to own firearms should be taken away. You will still be able to protect your home and family.

" A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

I guess my question to you is, if it were simply about every citizen having a right to have guns, why the need for the first half of the sentence in the first place??

Wouldn't it just say "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall no be infringed"?
