Got another prospect for you guys. I really like this kid and even though our scrub DBs have been playing well, I think we could use a solid safety in the second round if we don't land one in free agency.
Phillip Thomas is a senior from Fresno state. He had a freak accident about a year ago and he really fugged up his whole leg/foot. He has recovered nicely though, and has returned to his same ole hard hitting, ball hawk ways.
After watching the tape, Thomas is exactly the kind of guy I want in my last line of defense. He is as sure of a tackler as I've ever seen. Doesn't play dirty, but knows how to lay the wood. Has a natural nose for finding the ball, always being aggressive and fighting for the ball in the air. Tremendous ball skills.
There really isn't a whole lot of tape on this guy but I dug up what I could from youtube.
Here's an interview. Interviews are huge when looking at prospects. You can tell he's a great guy and loves the game.

This hit was absolutely legal. See how great his instinct and technique?

I hate Fresno State players.
I rather go Shawn Williams in the 4th or maybe trade up in the 3rd for him than waste a 2nd on Thomas. Still better players in the 2nd than Phillip.
