I haven't heard any news on this topic really except through my wife who works in logistics, but it could become a big deal. Basically, the International Longshoreman Association (ILA) will be going on strike on December 29th because of a sticking point in their contract negotiations with the US Maritime Alliance. The 15 major ports of the east and gulf coast will be effectively shut down causing a stalemate in the economy.

Seems weird that this isn't being covered at all, but I guess it is getting buried by Sandy Hook and the fiscal cliff.
Longshoreman strike could cause economic emergency

There are also calls for Obama to enact the Taft-Hartely Act to prevent the strike, which I am sure he does not want to do. The act was last used in 2001 by Bush during a longshoreman strike on the west coast.
