Why was the Palmer Hit a Penalty?

75 posts in this topic

Well if he is fined, it's bullshit, and I hope the higher paid players on the team pool together to pay his fine. Hate Hurney all you want, Hardy was maybe one of the best picks he ever made.

I agree except to say pooling money may not be the thing to do after the Saints .

Godfrey's was the most legit penalty of the day. Receiver was defenseless and had already lost the ball. Godfrey went after his head which is a nono with any part of your body.

It's a pretty common practice if memory serves me correctly.

The league must of had a talk with all the refs, they were calling every big hit in every game yesterday

Seems like as good a place as any to post this:

"ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer suffered cracked ribs and a bruised lung after a hard hit by Carolina linebacker Greg Hardy and will not play in the team's final game."

I'ma let ya'll decide.

Facemask up and the eyes can see the numbers? That's textbook tackling technique taught at every level from junior to high school to college.

You cannot hit anyone with your helmet. Hardy's helmet is in Palmer's back. That is a penalty.

Keep your helmet out of the tackle and you are good. Or, tackle with the shoulder pads. That is what you are taught. See what you hit, and hit it with your shoulder pads.

See what you hit? His eyes are up, he can clearly see what he's hitting. And try keeping your helmet out of a tackle, you supposed to be leaning your head back while tackling
