So can someone help me with this. Why do GMs have so much power to begin with in terms of what players a team drafts or signs? Maybe im not thinking about this the right way but it would seem to me HCs and coordinators would have a lot better grasp of what their team needs as opposed to a yuppie GM that spends most of his days in a plush office

Rivera has a better shot a full control next year than this guy.

Pete Caroll des, but we are talking about JR giving Chip this much control. It's not going to happen. Chip might as well sign his
contract to t\ithe Eagles now because they are probably the only team that will give him that much control.

Caroll had a NFL background before he became coach of Seattle.

I know.
Though its cheaper to pay one guy to do two jobs than two guys doing two jobs lol

I could picture us interviewing him and then he tells JR "Well, I was looking for full control of personnel decisions."

And JR laughs in his fuging face.

and then he goes on and take the Eagles to the Playoffs next season while we're stuck with Rivera, and JR has half the stadium fill with opposing fans. Right?

JR is not going to give full control to a guy who has NO NFL experience at all.

Nor will most teams. He can want in one hand...! If he holds to this, hes cutting his chances of landing a job, in half. Browns and Chiefs, FTW

Probably wont happen, but I would love to see Kelly take over this team and have full decision making.

I would love to see Kelly making the calls on Draft Day. Harbaugh, Schiano, and Carroll has shown that they can draft players pretty well with their experiences of recruiting players back in college (Aldon, Kaepernick, Culliver, Doug Martin, Barron, David, Wagner, Irvin, Carpenter, Wilson, Moffitt, KJ Wright, Sherman, Okung, Earl, Chancellor, etc). Cant say that these college coaches doesnt know talents.

well I was expecting rumors of a young coach with a ton of confidence to say that he didn't want any input in personnel decisions at all.

I think we should see what he says, and I don't think we should laugh at him if he says he wants full control... try to negotiate.

To be fair, Chip Kelly is stellar at evaluating talent.

It isn't hard to evaluate talent when all you look for is speed, dude is like the Al Davis of College scouting. You can't do that in the NFL, evaluating NFL talent and College talent is COMPLETELY different.
