Regardless of the validity of this rumor I still want Kelly. The chance to have Kelly and newton together I'd give a lot up for. I'd go all in especially having a sh*tty Rivera as the other choice.

If Rivera is fired, we will hire our GM then hire our coach. Marc Ross for instance isn't gonna hire Kelly when he wants control over his duties.

I think wanting too much control is why Cowher hasn't landed with one of the teams he's expressed interest in. If we won't do it for him, we won't do it for Kelly.

Exactly. Out of all the options out there Jags, Browns, and Eagles. We're the most attractive, we have great young players in Luke Kuechly and Cam. Also two very good pass-rushers in Hardy, and Johnson.

Him wanting full control of player decision etc do not have to mean he wants to be a GM/HC. But if it would, our last GM was a fuging reporter....

For the first time in like forever we took a chance with Newton.... Lets take another. Fug all the you cant to that and you cant do this in the NFL and this is not college bla bla bla... Lets go our own way and let other teams look at us and say hey, we want to do it the Panthers way.

For me its now a Rivera vs Kelly thing. Those are the two I would think would be the best for Newton.

Is he asking to be GM and head coach? Or just an active voice in the talent that's drafted and not dealing with whatever the GM thinks is best for the team.

Sign him to a short term contract and say...go for it. If it doesn't work out...move on. He brings an energy to the coaching position which is what we all have been craving for so long. When we as fans show more emotional attachment to the team than the coach...something's wrong. You look at a Tomlin, Belichek, Harbaughs...they are active engaged coaches in every aspect of the team they coach. I like that. Cowher...Kelly...whatever. Give me someone that players WANT to play for and not some corporatist BS type that's done the time and deserves a shot.

Meh. Doesn't really bother me. He will have a better idea as to what personnel will work in this offense than your typical NFL GM.

Kelly is not at the top of my list. But I really don't have a realistic top of my list right now.

But if this happens, I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

Well JR has a huge hardon for Cowher but he wanted complete control. If he was unwilling to give it to him, he wont give it to a college coach.
