Cam Newton: Best First Two Seasons Ever

Yardage and total touchdowns is an amazing stat.

In terms of clutch you could argue that Cam has been the team that's up in the 4th quarter so his opportunities have been limited. If Cam had won those games he still would have the "clutch" questions.

Now the fumble against the Falcon and the awful pass in the Seahawks game are two instances where he was not clutch.

Fox ball always had the team barley down but so there was opportunity to close out the stinkers for the earlier three quarters.

Now in situations where he needed to make a drive he has yet to close on that signature drive...thanks Mare.

Like Dan Reeves in Denver, he spends three quarter trying to run the ball ineffectively and then when they are down two tds they give it to elway and go no huddle for the bail out win.

Cam needs a coach that will allow us to be down in the 4th plain and simple and

Rivera is always having the lead...get rid of him.

nice but need to get playoffs. now is that a coaching and gm problem.,,,,,we will find. other than that nice. even with all the others i still think cam has the most potential to not only become elite but truly a one of a kind player of his generation.

honestly I have to give those first two seasons to Dan Marino... I don't think wins are solely on a QB but I don't think you can just ignore them completely, either. What Dan did in those first two seasons - given the nature of the league - wow.

I love Cam and I think what he has done is simply amazing, and I don't think it detracts from his accomplishments to say maybe he's second best.

I would take 2003-07 Jake over rookie and soph Cam in the 4th Q. Call him lucky, but he got in done. So will Cam with time, but we are in the playoffs thia year with Jake.

This is quite possibly the most overlooked situation on the team. What an absolutely brilliant point! Jake would toss those wounded ducks to the heavens and when Smitty couldnt make a play, the Mighty mighty Kasay would step to the plate and crush it. Mare, Medlock, nor Gano can hold Kasay's jock.

Matt Moore and Clausen had Kasey...and Smitty..

Have to disagree. With no running game and an o-line playing like crap? We would have been seeing a lot of bad Jake. Like maybe 25 interceptions and a half dozen sack/fumbles is what I would envision.

clutch play also has a lot to do with being put in great position to be clutch and help...

A lot of games Cam winning opportunities have been pooty scenarios.

Plus Delhomme couldn't even get to the 4th this year with as much on his shoulders as Cam has

Matt Moore had a winning record 2 out of 3 years his number was called

Clausen isn't a NFL QB

still think Marino had the better 2 first seasons overall, even if purely based on stats one can make an argument for Cam... there is more to the game than just stats. That's not to say that Cam hasn't had one of the best first two seasons ever, he has - but I don't think his two seasons are as good as those Marino had.

Jake had an old Stephen Davis and Deshaun "my acl hurts" foster. The running game from those days was so overrated. The line...well...I wont argue that..
