When you're pied by Slenderman, Brooklyn Bully, and MadHatter, it's seriously time to reevaluate your views.

IN OTHER WORDS, MANY POSTERS HERE OVERRATE CAMS WORTH WHEN IT COME TO THE NFL AS A WHOLE.

Most fans don't give a shyt/

Actually, no.

We do, however, tend to see everything through "Fan Vision" which is rarely balanced or objective.

Matt Cassel is good guy, very approachable & active in the KC area.

Bradford is thought to be a leader with little help, & I haven't heard any teammates disliking him...

Did I mention we moved to Missouri in September?

Anyway, I agree with everything Scott has said other than this will stop when we start winning. Many will stop but there will be those who are going to hate him no matter what & I don't mean just those that are rivals. They will be identified by avoiding talking about the Panthers as much as possible, & will tout the awesome play of everybody else in the event of a Lombardi.

At any rate, some of y'all need to avoid the media or you're gonna get acid reflux. It's easier to feed outrage/tell people what they want to hear than inform.

I wouldn't argue either of those points. There will still be people who hate, and some folks should just turn their TV off.

And I remember what it was like trying to get Panther news or discussion while living outside the area.

Cam could go on and have a Brady-esque career, and the narrative wont change at all IMO.

Paid to play;

Stolen laptops;

Me-first selfish prima donna;

Arrogant jerk.

fug the haters.

disagree. When Cam starts winning, there will be more and more people saying positives about him. for now, he can look as good as humanly possible but as long as this team loses (even for reasons out of his control) and there will be more haters bitching than anything.

That's an awful lot of text for such a flawed view. Oddly enough look who were the first to pie him.

Essentially it is just another Mr. Scot thread telling those with differing opinions to shut up and get over it.

don't you get it? no one cares about cam outside of the carolinas. when nawrocki published his thinly veiled character assassination of cam prior to the draft, he was just being influenced by the charlotte observer or something idk

I'd add that I do think some folks got upset that a lot of the media moved on to other "shiny new toys" after Newton wasn't a rookie anymore.

But honestly, that happens every year. It'll happen to this year's rookie sensations next season too.

I can pretty much guarantee you don't see it.

The point of the thread was that national media and fans outside the fanbase don't care enough about Newton and the Panthers to bother getting the story straight, Instead, they just repeat what others say. If we were to win more games however, the narrative would change.

I seriously doubt you got that out of what you read, which tells me you didn't really read seriously (if at all).

Just because someone doesn't agree doesn't mean they dont understand.

Even while we are winning there is still an abundance of negative stories circulating about him. It is this way and honestly it appears it may always be. There are an awful lot of people out there still upset about being wrong on their bust predictions. Blaine Gabbert a better QB than Cam Newton... Remember that?

Even the Panthers fans who were vehemently (in some cases extremely ignorantly) against him as the pick will claim they are behind him, but that is only when our football team is doing well. Those people know who they are, and they express that on a daily basis here in different ways. Some more obvious than others.

When in the past two seasons have we been winning on a consistent basis?

I don't know that I can rightly judge how the media would treat Newton in a winning season because we haven't had one yet. Who's to say what would have happened if we had? I do know that, generally speaking, the media are huge bandwagoners. Doubt it'd be any different with us,

As far as there being people who will never support him no matter what, it happens. There are some folks who will just never have a balanced opinion one way or the other. What are you gonna do?

For my part, the Panthers pretty much never take the guy I want - no exception this year, Kuechly wasn't my first choice - so I've become accustomed to supporting guys I didn't choose. Lord knows I've had plenty of practice, even going back as far as Kerry Collins (wanted McNair), Tshimanga Biakabutuka (Wanted Eddie George) and Jason Peter (wanted Vonnie Holliday).

Kinda hoping that trend changes once we have a new GM.

How much of those comments do you think come from rival fans?

And for the record, Roethlisberger was the subject of plenty of negative coverage, including a multipage SI cover article about just how big a jerk he really was.

For a bit of perspective, keep in mind Roethlisberger was accused of raping girls. Cam wears a towel on his head and is sullen in interviews after a loss. To compare the two is kind of proving the "homers'" point.

He's got a ring, which means he can get away with an awful lot.

You'd like to hope it wouldn't include stuff like this, but experience says otherwise.

He did get ripped pretty good by a lot of media around the time he was suspended, but all that's forgotten now.
