I don't think you'll find anyone here who is anti-gun. there are plenty of people calling for responsible measures to ensure social and legal measures are in place to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and nut jobs.

if that's what you mean by liberal gun haters than sure, that's me. I own an 1837 harpers ferry longrifle and I intend to purchase a .22 or 9mm (or something comparable) for home defense sometime within the new year.

Just getting an idea on your home defense. That's all. We all know ARs are out of question. So what do you use?

Don't own any guns, but I did once get to fire a 16 inch 50 Caliber Mark 7 gun. That was pretty cool. Heck of a kick to.

I have far more efficient means of protection than a gun locked away and unloaded. I'm comfortable my house is safer than 95%. On top of that, I'm less likely to die via gun. Win win.

Hmmm... I'm not either of the three listed but I am for responsible measures.

Colt 1911.
M1 Garand.
Winchester 1873.
Winchester Model 21.
Mossburg 500.
An FN 1910 that some idiot nickle plated.

The Mossburg is for home defense along with an alarm & a heavy steel door frame & lock my FiL cam up with.

Have a taser, just as effective, and I don't have to kill anyone!

As you know, I'm retired military. I'm also a social Democrat, a fiscal moderate, a foreign policy Republican and I'm not at all sure what any of those have to do with my owning a gun.

I'm 6'6" @ 270 lbs, so I don't have any illusions that carrying a gun is going to somehow "protect" me, I'm a big target.

That being said, I do enjoy range practice to keep my head clear and hands steady as I get older. We own his and hers Beretta 92F, I have a Sig Sauer P238HD and a Remington 870MCS shotgun.

Assorted handguns, shotguns and rifles. No "assault" weapons as currently defined.

I dare say that some who feel totally safe do not live miles out in the country away from police departments, gated communitys, etc. Big difference in living in a secure environment vs "on your own" so to speak.
