Today's "New of the Weird" courtesy of Ian Rapoport (a story that surprisingly doesn't involve the Jets).

Regarding Todd Haley, a source with the Steelers said he's interviewing for the Cardinals head coaching job today.

Haley's agent, however, has said that he's not doing any interviews and is happy where he is.

Asked about the story, the Arizona Cardinals had no comment.

The hell...

That'd rob the Jets of another option

Latest word is they've also reached out to Brian Gaine (Dolphins Assistant GM). Sounds like they're no longer interested in Ross (conceivable he doesn't want them).

Gamble was close to being hired, not sure what happened there except he was wanting to fire Rex.

Word was his interview "didn't go well". That could conceivably be translated to mean he was something less than enthusiastic about keeping Rex Ryan. They were kast said to be checking on Brian Gaine of the Dolphins and their own Assistant GM Scott Cohen.

Honestly, if I were a GM candidate, I'd steer well clear of The Woody and Rex Show. Those guys give dumpster fires a bad name.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet

The #Chargers have informed one coaching candidate their new GM Tom Telesco, source says.

So they have someone hired?

T'would seem.

Hey Bolt, If Raye is pissed about being passed over in San Diego, tell him we could probably find a place for him

Just to confirm above

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer

Telesco interviewed last week, interviewed again last night, stayed overnight in San Diego, offered and accepted the job today.

Press Conference is at 1 PM Pacific Time.

Also hearing that Telesco doesn't have final say on HC position.

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer

Be careful about dot-connecting on SD's coach search. Telesco will join Dean Spanos, John Spanos, Ed McGuire, Ron Wolf to look for new HC.

Having Wolf on board for that process as well is a good thing.

The Telesco press conference is in 2 hours. Concerning Raye, initially I hadn't heard of anyone asking for permission, but I wonder if he'll become the late dark horse candidate somewhere this year.

And just like that, Jets ask for permission to speak to Raye
