Schefter points out that, despite the Rooney Rule, no minority coaches were hired.

No minority hires for GM spots yet either. Of the two remaining, one has a favorite (John Idzik, not a minority) and the status of the other is up in the air.

AdamSchefter
Browns hired Michael Lombardi as GM.

AdamSchefter
Update: Michael Lombardi's title in Cleveland will be VP player personnel.

not completely unexpected.

i still think that chud is showing himself to be smarter than rivera about moving up to a HC gig.

brings on an experienced HC to help him learn the ropes of the job. he's also in a good situation in that he gets to work with a clean slate at the GM(/VP of personnel) and has a guy that knows what he's doing there.

That's a good hire for Cleveland. I assume they didn't use the GM title because of Banner's presence.

That, or someone else will have that title.

I suspect they'll still hire a GM. Power structure will be interesting, especially with Chudzinski involved.

i've got a feeling that chud will inherit the GM title as well.

i mean this is joe banner we're talking about.

True. That said, giving a first time head coach full power is insane.

that wouldn't be the first time he did something like that. it's essentially what happened with andy reid, isn't it? i mean he didn't have the title, but he had the power.

If Ray Horton ends up as DC there, that's another good move for Chud. As far as the new coaches go, him and McCoy may have made out the best at coordinator hires.

I don't remember if it happened right up front.

I know the Jags did it with Tom Coughlin.
