Mr. Scot

Assistant Coach Options

I' love to have Norm as OC, hell any new OC would be fine. Mine and Chud's honeymoon is over.

In other news, Russ Grimm came into the bar I was bartender at on the outer banks with his hot wife and he drank pitchers of beer by himself. Cool dude, and he vacations in NC. Coolstory/

He'd have been popular with the "emotional coach" crowd

Another on the OL front. Word that Saints OL Coach/interim-interim HC Aaron Kromer's contract is up. Ditto OC Pete Carmichael.

Doubt it means much, but interesting.

Word today that although head coach Mike Mularkey has not been fired (speculation is that the owner may keep him) his assistants have all been told they're free to interview for jobs elsewhere.

Of that staff, Strength and Conditioning Coach Tom Myslinski and OL Coach Andy Heck would somewhat interest me.

This may actually be more viable than expected.

Jonathan Jones said on his twitter that s little staff shakeup is at least possible (though he didn't say probable).

And so it begins.

Obviously I didn't expect the RB coach to be in danger, but as far as possible replacements, former Rivera colleague Tim Spencer makes sense. They joined the Bears coaching staff the same year (2004) and with Chicago changing head coaches, he might not be retained there.

Another old Rivera colleague that could get a look is Ollie Wilson, most recently the runningbacks coach for the Chargers. Wilson was also the RB coach at Cal-Berkeley during Rivera's senior year.

There's also Eagles RB Coach Ted Williams. He's been in Philly since 1997 and coached RBs for all of Rivera's tenure with the Eagles. Unknown whether he might rejoin Reid in KC though.

Other options not connected to Rivera include former Cowboys RB coach Skip Peete, Chiefs RB coach Maurice Carthon and prior Panthers RB coach (late of the Titans) Jim Skipper.

If Chud is staying then, Norv as QB coach (hoping he take a demotion), Jim Skipper as RB coach and Russ Grimm as OL coach.

Quick look at the LB coaches from staffs that are currently in flux didn't turn up much in the way of linebacker coaches with Rivera ties. Well, except for Bob Babich, the guy that Lovie Smith replaced him with (something tells me that's a no go).

There is a former Panthers guy out there in Billy Davis, but he has no ties with Rivera.
