Not really all that surprising... he's almost as old as me, and I can't imagine the pounding your body takes playing in the NFL for that long.

Trey Wingo mentioned that Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden were taken in the same draft in the first round. The Ravens really do know how to draft, don't they?

Ed Reed expected to be gone too. Boy will things in Baltimore look different next season.

If he could have lasted about three/four more years he might have gotten to play with/against his son.

Mentioned elsewhere: Got a laugh when I realized this weekend's playoff game is the team that left Baltimore vs the team that left Cleveland

Pete Prisco tweeted that he thinks Ray Lewis is the best middle linebacker ever. I'm not so sure I'd go that far, but he's definitely up there.

He has the most all-pro selections ever for a MLB

Here is something to think about...

does this open up a trade partner to deal Beason if we have to?

Similar type of player and similar personality - assuming the contract isn't an issue or gets handled, stranger things have happened.

Lewis has been liitle more than reputation for the last 4-5 years, so I doubt this makes much difference to the Ravens plans regardless.

How much is his new found free time going to affect the national murder rate?

So are you ready for Ray Lewis, the commentator?

Apparently he's already got a deal with ESPN.
