And now they are being ripped to shreds by Chris Christie and other big shot GOPer's.

Republican Peter King:

“These Republicans have no problem finding New York when they’re out raising millions of dollars,” King said on Fox News. “They’re in New York all the time filling their pockets with money from New Yorkers. I’m saying right now, anyone from New York or New Jersey who contributes one penny to Congressional Republicans is out of their minds. Because what they did last night was put a knife in the back of New Yorkers and New Jerseyans. It was an absolute disgrace.”

I was watching it live.

Remember that republicans think NJ and NY are part of the 47% and thus do not care about them

George W Bush doesn't care about obese white residents of the tri-state area.

The people to blame are the ones that felt that Smithsonian roofs and other non-Sandy items needed to be part of this bill.

You want it to pass. Make the bill for Sandy relief.

Typical idiocy in Washington...make a bill and name it "Save the kitties ACT" and attach anything in the world to it and if anyone debates it are labeled cat haters.

Agree.

Needs to be re-written. Tired of these spineless politicians slipping in millions/billions worth of taxpayer money and using a tragedy to pass it though.

Is it really a big deal if they do this Friday, instead of yesterday? Its a bill geared to assist with long term recovery, not emergency aid. Better to wait and ensure its done right than pass it in a hurry and have all the problems the Katrina aid did.

I haven't read the details, but it must be a big deal if these Republican figures are putting their own parties leadership on full blast.
