Never said it was, but he's almost guaranteed to be a cap casualty because of the Mess the team is in. No one else gives even close to that kind of cap relief (Almost 8 million) by restructuring or cutting them. The team could restructure him, but it would cut the savings drastically.

DeAngelo saves the team around 3.4 and that's if it's split over two seasons. Smith, Stewart, Anderson and Godfrey are untouchable cut wise. That pretty much leaves.

Gamble, Gross, Nak, Edwards, Williams and Beason.

Williams and Beason are the harder of those deals being a straight cut. Beason gets a restructure and Williams probably stays for one more year. That leaves Gamble, Gross, Nak and Edwards. The team isn't going to cut it's only starting caliber LT, so Gross is out- so restructure him to save money.

Nak and Edwards are gone and it saves the team 4.3, The team still needs to cut a lot of space after that. So there goes Gamble....

I understand that cutting Gamble saves us the most, but what FA are you going to sign who is as good at their respective postion as Gamble is at his? He's easily a top 10 NFL corner on a team with no other top individual talent in the secondary.

Figures our star QB would go "uninjured" for the first 2 seasons with DA waiting on the sidelines. Now DA is gone and Cam's gonna get hurt and we'll be right back in Jimmuh's hands...

The team is left in a bind, they'll have to rely on what they have, can get in the draft or a cheap FA.

Even if the team Cuts Nak, Edwards and Williams, then Restructures Beason and Gross. 7.7 of 13 million in Nak, Edwards and Williams, the team would have to save around 15 Million on the Gross and Beason restructures and that's highly unlikely.


Even if the team saves, what I proposed on the high end of 7-9 million. That puts them under the cap by only around 2-4 million. The team would still have major holes and not enough money to sign at least some low level FA's.

Gamble is almost assuredly gone, its possible that the team restructures him, but that would put them into the same situation in 3 years.

Some of the things mentioned in that article aren't even correct but I don't feel like addressing them TBH. I'm just going to ignore this f-ed up situation as much as possible and let the new GM have the oh-so-fun task of dealing with this load of crap. I advise everyone else to do the same.

Like someone else already said, this happens every offseason and every year we manage to find a way to make the numbers work....not worried

Except we've never actually made it work. We've just buried the problem and it's coming bak to bite us more and more viciously each year.

It was funny when so many people celebrated when we signed our core players to big deals, and now those same people are forced to understand how dumb some of those decisions were.

There will be a way, and a lot of people won't like it.

I think you try to keep your strength strong. So I say we keep Deangelo and draft a RB in every round of the draft.

I watched the Redskins and other teams go crazy paying players. I don't know how but the Panthers will figure it out. In the past they've always gotten under the cap with room to spare and sign some players.

We really cant afford to let Gross go right now. Hell, letting Gamble is not a good move but if i had to choose between the two it would be Gamble gone. This situation also makes the draft that more crucial, those first 2 picks at least better be home runs or its gonna hurt us. Thats why i prefer Marc Ross for the GM job. He is good at finding talent.
