some manager fuged up and the manager tried to apologize but the cops were very unhappy, left anyway, and caused a stir about it.

my first thought on reading this was so what? If a restaurant has a no weapons policy, there is no reason why law enforcement should be excluded.

Unless in court, I am pretty sure that most places mandate that uniformed officers always carry their weapons.

On or off duty.

that's fine, and I get that, just means they can't eat at Denny's.

I think it would be stupid policy by the restaurant, but well within their rights to do that

I agree, but it will hinder business. Just not smart all the way around.

In a place notorious for late night drunk fights, having visible police around is always helpful.
