some manager fuged up and the manager tried to apologize but the cops were very unhappy, left anyway, and caused a stir about it.

I just found the rest of the story... Looks like nothing more than poor judgement by the manager, and everybody has kissed and made up...

my first thought on reading this was so what? If a restaurant has a no weapons policy, there is no reason why law enforcement should be excluded.
Unless in court, I am pretty sure that most places mandate that uniformed officers always carry their weapons.
On or off duty.

I think it would be stupid policy by the restaurant, but well within their rights to do that

I agree, but it will hinder business. Just not smart all the way around.
