Gettelman vs Ross: 50/50 shot at picking which one of these guys that makes the most sense, Panthers will get it wrong every time. Old people love other old people. I guess having someone JR can relate to is more important than having the one better suited for molding the franchise for long term success. At least they can talk about the good ole days... smh

No matter who we hire it will be an upgrade over Hurney. Our current cap situation solidifies that fact. I'll wait to pass judgement on our future GM until they have at least one year and a draft. Come on, it's not like any of us REALLY have a good idea on how this guy will do.

Someone explain to me why a team that builds through the draft would favor a lower regarded guy who was another team's director of pro personnel over a higly regarded prodigy that was that same team's director of college scouting.


It's the age. Gettleman is the "safe play." He won't be great, but at least he won't be radical, is the traditional line of thinking this team would take.


Note that I think Gettleman is a decent candidate, but it just shows some things never change.

I've yet to see anywhere that actually says how old he is, but his Giants bio says he graduated college in '72, which would put him around 61-63.
