Rivera is staying: Fix the Panthers

Fix the panthers? The problem is at the top. The other problems can't be solved until we get improved ownership. Hopefully JR dies before Cam wastes too much of his youth.

1. Accountability? There has been none since the day JR led the lockout.

2. GM? Any candidate who wanted a say in who the head coach would be going forward is no longer a candidate.

3. 6-10 and 7-9 has been confirmed as perfectly acceptable performance.

4. I'll be watching a lot of other good football teams next season and pulling for them. I prefer to not be associated with mediocrity.

I wish the panthers were mediocre. We're a complete joke.

Yes the condascending, fug you JR attitude showed its face today as Rivera is retained and we have yet to hire a GM.

But this is no different than his attitude towards the Players during labor negotiations or his treatment of Panther fans.

I'd be OK with Norv but prefer Whizenhunt.

Any one see any tweets from the PLayers and their reactions to Rivera staying?

Norv still keeps Cam in the same base offense which is the only reason I like that move...

The main change I would like to see is a minor change in philosophy regarding the beginning if the season. I feel like the lackadaisical Norv Turneresque attitude contributes to a team that is not properly prepared or conditioned until week 8.

That, and fire Chud.

There are about a half a dozen teams interviewing for new GM's. And guess what......NONE OF THEM have hired anyone yet.

We are NOT behind the curve in the GM search.

Damn...we sure do have an impatient fan base.

You want news so bad that you would rather rush and hire someone.

Funny how the thinking was exactly opposite last year. Chud was awesome and McDermott sucked. We focused on the defense last year and fixed it. Now the offense is broken and McDermott is great. Maybe the solution is focus on the offense and fix it and Chud would be fine going forward. He is the same guy he was last year only hopefully much wiser.

Chud did well last year, only to change what wasn't broken and wait 10 games or so to do anything about it... which I have to assume came from elsewhere.

Doesn't seem that surprising to me..

If NFL GM searches work like most other executive searches, there are phone interviews prior to flying candidates into town for final selection. Those conversations likely included questions about retaining Ron or finding a replacement.

It is an important decision and likely why JR waited until the preliminary interviews were completed before making a final decision about Ron.

Hate to say it but I told you so.... no way Jerry cuts Ron after only 2 years. But I'm pretty sure Ron had it drilled in that if this team comes up short of the playoffs, he's history.
