By the way, those who have said that JR is cheap....do not have a clue what they are talking about. You should stop posting.
I believe Mr. Richardson desperately wants his team to be the champion and he cannot count on a lot of years to wait. (By the way, those of you that have posted about looking forward to his death for team ownership reasons are despicable.) Mr. Richardson may very well live to be 100. My guess is that anyone who was as close to death as he was, and who now has a borrowed heart....values every day and takes nothing for granted.
I thought it was interesting that Rivera said he and Mr Richardson have met every week (since Hurney was fired) and JR tells him what he likes and doesn't like. JR must have seen some evidence that RR listened and made some changes.
I have heard the arguments for keeping Rivera and now I will embrace them. Especially because Mr. Richardson decided he deserved 1 more year. A pretty big decision considering he wasn't sold on him in the first place.
RR has made mistakes and am hoping he has learned from them and can correct. I will be positive about that going forward. It is very impressive that his players played so hard for him.
Even though I was not supporting Rivera returning, a part of me is happy for him because he seems like such a great guy. Perhaps this is where he needed to be as a HC. Maybe he was supposed to be a Panther.
I am moving forward believing.

We've had some on here predicting Rivera was gone since about week eight.

JR however has done both at times.

It's who made the decision to keep him, and the message it reveals, and the message it sends to viable GM candidates.

Could be worse.
We've had some on here predicting Rivera was gone since about week eight.
We could have Beane announced and his first official move is a contract extension for Ron.
So you are correct.

i don't think that was the case until he gave fox the ultimatum of two winning seasons in a row or i tear it up and we start looking forward.JR might not be cheap, but I do think he meddles too much and that's why we can't turn the corner. He's like a silent, introverted, more gentlemanly version of Jerry Jones. I just get the feeling that he has a hard time not putting his two cents in and can't get out of his own way.
he should have let hurney go with fox and started with a truly clean slate. he didn't want to shake things up to bad, but he ended up making things out of balance.
i have a feeling that we'll be paying for that for a long time.

As its been said, I don't think there are too many here who have any qualms with Rivera sticking around for one more year to see what he can do.
It's who made the decision to keep him, and the message it reveals, and the message it sends to viable GM candidates.
This is just another example of "Cam " effect. We are excited about what Cam and future hold. Some are worried JR is going to make another mistake hire, like keeping Rivera is why we won't get a quality GM.
I believe JR knows where he wants to go. He looked Rivera in the eye and decided Ron could help him get there. JR will do the same thing in his GM search. He will hire the person he believes can also assist in obtaining those goals.
JR has had a rocky track record with coaches and GMs. He is probably just as nervous as the rest of us about getting this thing done right. I am optisimstic that he will get it right this time. And if so. The future truly is bright.
My giddy is right. I just know it is.
