He's smart, waiting for the right job.

Although not looking forward to the chip Kelly to Carolina rumor threads well have to deal with again once Ole Ron and the Boys start 1-3 ;)

Well, guess what, if this next season turns out as a bust for Rivera all the Kelly fans can still hope to have their wishes fulfilled. SO win-win for everyone.

At least up until Richardson hires an NFL defensive coordinator again.

I'm shocked we aren't hearing Lovie Smith and Whisenhunt being talked about more.

Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport both reporting that between the two choices, the Eagles were the job he really wanted. LaCanfora's statement that control was an issue makes more sense in Philly because Howie Roseman is entrenched there and has the support of Jeffrey Lurie.

So it appears the final story was that the Browns backed off, but the indecision they saw might actually have had as much to do with the Eagles as the Ducks (they'd never want to admit that) but then the team he preferred wouldn't give him what he wanted, so he went back to Oregon.

In the back of our minds we all know this will happen.

We just go our happy places and pretend there's another option sometimes.

You better believe it, if Rivera gets canned next season, Kelly will be the Panthers HC no doubt about it.

I doubt it... JR had a full 24 hrs from the time his game ended and the time he met with Rivera. If JR wanted Chip and vise versa it would have been done.

Did JR reach out to Chip and have a conversation? Perhaps... But we'll never know.

I'll sleep we'll tonight knowing that we have the right man as our HC... And feel good about this organization moving fwd.

I will admit though; seeing Chip running this Offense would have been fun to watch, but it wasnt meant to be, and I'm glad it didn't happen.

He only did it for Oregon to up his contract. Expect a report within a week about him being the first college coach with a salary of 6M a year.
