Yet another European Panthers fan here. I'm from Finland and I've been a fan since the Panthers played in the Super Bowl (which was the first American football game I've watched). I've even been to four Panthers games (2010 against SF, 2011 Bears and 2012 Saints and Giants at home) and watched almost all the Panthers games for the last five or so years (NFL Game Pass is very good btw.)

In ten years I've learned to understand the game quite well but I still not completely sure what causes the illegal formation penalties.. =)

Illegal formation comes down to either too many or too few players lining up at the line of scrimmage, you have to have seven on the line and five off.

On and off the line of scrimmage is the thing I haven't completely understood.. I'm guessing that there is some kind of a distance from the line of scrimmage so that the player is considered "on" the line of scrimmage.

The offensive line get a little leeway, you often see the guards being a little bit further back and the tackles almost a full yard off the line, even though they are technically not on the line.

But for everyone else they pretty much have to be within a foot or so of the imaginary line extending from the ball if they are to make up the extra two players that have to be on the line of scrimmage to make the formation legal.

What's the difference between a nickle defense and a dime defense?

Holy sh*t, you're such a douche.

I did when I was younger, I'm usually at the game now so don't really get to listen to the radio.

Oh – are there many UK based fans on here?

american here who lives in germany. big time everton fan. hope you arent a red. no matter if you are, since you're a panthers fan. glad to have you on board.

did you pay the 160 euro for the nfl package to watch the games off the website over here? if not, it is definitely worth the investment next year.

Also the end of the line of scrimmage can't be an offensive lineman. you need either a tight end or a receiver or a back on the outside of your tackles.

Eta: this rule is why you sometimes hear the referee saying that number so and so reports in as an eligible receiver. That player is usually a tackle at the end of the LOS

I didn't pay for it, i was tempted but had next to no spare money at the time. Instead I have used the games streamed on a website. The quality isn't great but it's better than nothing.

Definitely not a red - i'm a Manchester United fan so the reds definitely aren't my team! My girlfriend lives two minutes from goodison Park so i'm pretty much always always by Everton FC!

We've only had 2 panthers games shown on Sky Sports this year which is a shame.
