how to rebuild a franchise:

1. get a franchise quarterback
2. draft trenches
3. draft trenches
4. again? sure, why not: draft trenches
5. draft trenches
6. draft skill position players

I know we changed coaches, but I wouldn't really call us rebuilding. We just built off what we already have

Injuries effected our draft decisions

Been on the Warmack bandwagon for a over month now. It's destiny for Chance Warmack to be in a Panthers uniform, he went to Westlake High School with Cam. Imagine this big arse mauler pancaking Gerald McCoy.

i'm on the chance warmack bandwagon now. he's the likely BPA where we'll be picking and he fills a need because we have no real plan at RG. if we would have been picking where lotulelei or joeckel would have been on the board it's no contest there but the stars seem to be aligning here regardless.

plus "warmack" is a beast of a football name.

While I grant some of the past threads referenced here were of the goofy variety, it is a legit criticism that Newton sometimes holds the ball too long. Mind you, he was looking better by season's end, but I think that'll still be a coaching point.

Which, when you think about it, is another reason to beef up the line.

Because O line is such an obvious need this means we will draft a CB in the first.

I really want a receiver to be taken first, but I would be fine with us going o-line first; especially after seeing that stat that he's taken the most hits. Warmack would be a great pick, and the info about him going to high school with Cam is a good little tidbit.

Warmack would help open up the run game too, if you go to NFL.com and look at our offensive line statistics the MAJORITY of our success came when we ran the ball to left side.

I know we need a RG desperately, but given the cap situation and the value of the LT position, we may want to go that way.

For you draftniks out there, which tackles carry a 1st round grade that might be available at our pick?

Most college linemen wear knee braces.

I noticed Warmack last year while watching Fletcher Cox get owned during the Alabama game. Cox was taken out of the game any time he lined up over Warmack.

Again, our line is terrible. Cam too will begin getting injured for long periods of time(look at big ben) if we do not protect him.

And the Steelers address their OL needs in the draft:

Steeler Drafts since 2010

2112:
RD SEL # PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
1 24 David DeCastro G Stanford
2 56 Mike Adams T Ohio State

2111:
RD SEL # PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
2 63 Marcus Gilbert T Florida
6 196 Keith Williams G Nebraska

2110:
1 18 Maurkice Pouncey C Florida
5 151 Chris Scott T Tennessee

In that same time frame the Panthers have drafted one OL prospect higher than round 6 and two others in rounds 6 & 7:

2112:
2 40 Amini Silatolu G Midwestern State
2011
6 203 Zack Williams C Washington State
7 244 Lee Ziemba T Auburn
