Django got Best Pic Nod but not director. Same for Argo. Foxx and Leo didn't get a nom but Christoph Waltz did.
All the Supporting Nominated actors have won before.
Since the Oscars has more noms I think they spread out the awards this year to make everybody happy.
I have not seen Silver Linings yet but this makes me want to see it more. I like David Russell's style and he got best director nom.
My early predictions:
Best Actor- Joquain Phoenix- he is due and will be rewarded.
Actress-Jessica Chastain
Sup Actor- totally stacked. I will say Hoffman because it was more layered but I think it goes to Deniro.
Sup Actress-also tough but a slight lean to Ann Hathaway.
Director- toss up between Russell and Anderson. Both have been close.
Picture- said this early on and will stick with it. Argo.

Lincoln gets 12 noms? It must have been MUCH better than it looked in the previews.
I agree. The previews make it look like a total bore fest.

It was not, but the Academy loves Spielberg, DDL, and historical figures and everybody loves Lincoln so it dominated anyway.

for some reason, when I picture lincoln, I don't picture him with a whiny, high pitched voice. That's just me, though.
Evidently he actually had a high pitched voice in real life. I agree though, certainly not what one would first expect.

I have not seen Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty, or Amour I cannot comment there but I am surprised Begelow missed out on Best Director.
Argo, Beast of Southern Wild, and Les Mis all deserved there BP slots but Affleck got screwed for Director.
The place I feel they did a good job was recognizing Beasts for Picture, Director and Actress, although I wish Dwight Henry had received a Supporting Actor slot.
