i thought this was gonna be a chud to the jags thread.

anyway, if rivera fails to deliver a playoff spot or at the very least a winning season, gettleman needs to move forward with some other HC.

Ya know, that's a possibility

Surprised the Bears haven't interviewed him. Lord knows they've interviewed everyone else.

That was my first thought. We should let Caldwell know that Chud is the go-to-guy if they want to get the most out of The Golden Calf of Bristol's unique skill set.

Rivera should only get fired next year if he doesn't make the playoffs, unless the team went 10-6 and still didn't make the playoffs.

I can see a winning season keeping Rivera safe. Richardson said Fox's flaw was no back to back winning seasons, so I think he would give Rivera the chance to achieve that if we're at least 9-7 next year

Next year is just a throwaway year with a lame-duck head coach. This gives Gettleman a full year to get a grasp on the roster and what kind of coach we need to hire next year when we inevitably do so.

I couldn't disagree more.

Seems that Gettleman doesn't think that Rivera is doing a bad job. But I am sure he doesn't know more than whiners and bitchers on this message board who know everything.

Maybe Gettleman knows he has a lot of work to do ahead of him and figures that giving Rivera another year is a win- win for both sides.

As for being a lame duck coach, that is stupid. Rivera is signed through 2014.

Don't worry, I'll save this post and be sure to remind you a year from now.

Please do. If you're right, I'll be on board with bringing in someone new too. Regardless of how it turns out though, I think it's foolish to view any season as "throwaway", as you put it.
