All signs point to Shula...

Keeps the playbook.

Keeps Cam happy.

Has NFL OC experience (even though he never ranked better than 22nd and was shit canned, still, that was 15 years ago)

Top candidates will be concerned about Rivera's tenure.

Who are we kidding here. Shula is our next OC.

Are there signs yet? Stuff just went down like 5 hours ago. Are we going by what JR had for breakfast? Were there grits?

Its a wait and see thing. He has the pedigree, his early failures as an OC may have been from inexperience. Since then he has been a college head coach and has gotten more NFL coaching experience.

As I said in another thread, it could be a great hire. Promote Shula to OC and Scott Turner to QB coach. Keeps continuity and they are known to Rivera. The hardest thing for Shula would be calling plays but he surely knows the system and is likely ready for a step up.

People complaining last week about not hearing anything about the Panthers coaches/GM. I laugh now at that, since I'm more confused now then I was last week.

I just want an offensive coordinator that will be on the sidelines calling plays. Who can talk to Cam, along with the QB coach, to make adjustments.

I hope you're wrong about this like you were wrong about 13-3... and Terrell McClain... and several other Panther-related predictions.

Not every son thinks that working for Dad and being in his shadow is a great idea. He might prefer to chart his own course here.

So what you're saying is that we have considerably downgraded our staff and should expect a completely new staff next year. Good job JR...way to go...keeping Rivera was definitely the right move.

Did you fugers really think we were gonna get Turner or Whisenhunt? Of course it's gonna be Shula

I think Zod likes to stir the pot quite often, but on this prediction I think hes dead on right. Who worth a damn would commit to a hc who is seriously on the bubble for a fourth year.?

I like Shula!

He's going to give us a more balanced offense. More pound and ground game which will make our backs happy and Cam better. I think we're going to see Cam's td passes increase and less turnovers.

Olsen is going to have an even more better year.

A more balanced offense means better OLINE. We're going Chance Warmack at 14 baby.

Shula will absolutely be promoted. I can't imagine anything else at this point. One more year to evaluate Rivera and Co. Meanwhile, Gettlemen will spend much of the year monitoring potential replacements

And take your impression of "team needs" with regards to the draft and throw them out the window. Gettlemen is not drafting players to fill holes for Rivera this year.

Let's be honest, the coaching staff was a mess for next season anyway. It's all about 2014, when Rivera is finally gone and Gettleman can bring his own guys in.

Stevie Wonder can see this.
The move is cheap, predictable and boring. Just the way JR likes it.

If Shula is promoted to OC, who might the new QB coach be? While losing the opportunity to have Chud or Norv (I was leaning towards Turner after Chud did his sophomore slump routine again), the potential of landing Dave Toubs is keeping me cautiously optimistic. I'm wonder if the Graves hire was to appeal to Smitty when Rivera came over.

Many posters wanted to see Rivera and co. canned this offseason. Now that Rivera is safe, Chud is leaving for a promotion, and four other coaches have been let go (Murphy during the season), I'm seeing the same posters pouting. It just goes to show that some folks actually enjoy being Debbie Downers, which is a damn shame. This team has had enough disappointment and bad breaks, it doesn't need the folks that are supposed to be supportive of the squad looking for the opportunity to eat some piss-milk cheerios

Its not rocket science people.

If you are Rivera, and you know if you fail this year you are fired, do you install a completely new offense and give it at least half a season to gel or do you promote from within, keep the same offense, and hope for the best?

Rivera does not strike me as a huge risk taker. He promotes from within.

This. Agree!

Gettleman is the new man in charge. Rivera is not his guy. Gettleman will build this team his way (NYG way, DL). Chico better learn how to use the players it he want to keep his job.
