Yeah but I'm ready for him to go to the next level.Cam went through four offenses in four years, and thrived in all of them. Hell, his worst struggles came when he was under the same scheme two years in a row. He's not Alex Smith, the kid can learn with the best of them.
Rivera on his job

yeah, let's just keep doing this.Cam went through four offenses in four years, and thrived in all of them. Hell, his worst struggles came when he was under the same scheme two years in a row. He's not Alex Smith, the kid can learn with the best of them.

I'm simply stating that Cam's not an idiot, he can absorb any changes made to the offense (which I don't think will be nearly as wide-ranging as the panic-meisters imagine it will be.)

I'm not worried about how Cam will perform... but the offense as a whole has to all be on the same page. Whoever we get, best thing they can do is let Cam be Cam... don't try to force him into some system and nitpick his mechanics. Let him play.

just because you can handle it doesn't mean you should or that it's good for you or that it's something you want to continue doing.I'm simply stating that Cam's not an idiot, he can absorb any changes made to the offense (which I don't think will be nearly as wide-ranging as the panic-meisters imagine it will be.)
this is a bad thing, esp. since there's a high likelihood that he'll have to get used to another OC and coaching staff after the '13 season.

this thing is getting so messy i expect to hear smitty say he's hanging up his cleats.
i mean why stay with this clusterf*ck of an organization?

he's turned being in over his head as an HC into an artform.
it's what i expect.
of course "it's a process".
meh.....
totally haha
I'm not in complete doom and gloom mode but this feels like very murky waters and makes me really wish we would have just pulled the trigger for a new HC. Since the end of the season, it seemed like this was all a strategy to use another JR safety net by retaining him and now half of the net is gone and its the most important part.
Shula is the safe route, so I see our safe franchise doing this. meh. we'll see

it would have been painful, but it would have leveled things out.
JR made a mistake by not letting hurney go when he let fox go. he screwed up again by putting things out of balance again.
one step forward, one step back. that's our panthers.

The offense as a whole struggled because everything had to be run through Cam. If we are serious about letting him develop into a truly elite quarterback he can't do everything, and his mechanics have to improve. I don't ever want to take away Cam's ability to break off long runs, and the read option should stay as a wrinkle, but if he's going to take the next step it's going to be throwing the ball, utilizing his running backs to open up play action, and doing the things expected of a pass-first quarterback who just happens to be able to rush for 100 yards.

What's the likelihood that JR turns the table back on Rivera and lets him go due to the loss of Chud? He could easily use the "continuity" angle as to why he fires Rivera and just goes after a new HC and Staff... would make sense if (big 'if') it were to happen
This would be the best thing for the long-term future of this franchise. I'd be shocked if it happened.
