Why in the hell would Rivera want to bring in a guy who will be his replacement if the panthers start out 0-3 next season?

Rivera's seat is about as hot as it can get. Bringing in Whisenhunt would be pouring gasoline on top of it.

Rivera's seat is hot regardless of who he picks. If he's afraid of getting the boot in the middle of the season, why bother at all?

I would be very happy with either Ken or Hue. Both are quality choices.

Think the Chargers would really offer him the job?

they are interviewing him, so at least they are interested in him, his biggest issue was not having a QB in Arizona and he has one in San Diego

Wisenhunt would be a great hire. If Rivera falters the coaching search will be pretty quick. This would make a 1-3 start with Rivera in 2013 a Wisenhunt coached team real quick.

Is Rivera the decision maker for who we bring in at OC?

The HC typically hires his own staff. Who knows if he has somebody in his ear on this one, though.

Richardson doesn't fire coaches during the season.
