Ah, there it is....
The blind double standard. You do realize Brady has done that for years.....in the regular season. You see, to them it is a game. They just do it.
Tom Brady doesn't pull that junk out only in postseason games or just when winning.
But thanks for helping aid the point I was making....
But you didn't link to a first down made in the regular season. You linked to this play. If you're trying to make a point about something, try to do it with facts pertinent to the point you want to make. This was a playoff game. He scrambled for a first down on 3rd and long, and his team went on to win that playoff game. A context for everything and for everything a context.
Had you started this thread with an example in a game where the Patriots were down big points in the regular season, you may have salvaged some semblance of a point. As it stands, you just missed the boat entirely on the reason the criticism is leveled at Cam for his first down celebration. It's the timing, it's the scoreboard, and it's the frequency.
I think Cam is a phenomenal quarterback, but to pretend like he does no wrong is just plain hero worship. I am happy he is on my team. I am happy when he takes pride in what he does, provided what he is doing is helping us win the actual damn game. I get just as annoyed when guys like Charles Johnson jump up and celebrate a sack in garbage time of a blowout loss, but when you're at the quarterback position your responsibility is magnified. Everybody is keeping their eyes on you to set an example for the rest of the team to follow. Most of the time that impression on the team from Cam is incredibly positive, but that annoying habit would be great to eliminate. I don't care what he does when he gets us into the endzone and the game is close.
