Tavon Austin

WVU players have an unfortunate habit of not transitioning well to the NFL. Not all of them, mind you, but a fair number (enough to make it something you think about).

I suspect Austin will not have that problem, and I'd kill to see him as a Panther.

Honestly, I think he works best in a 3rd down back / return specialist kind of role. Similar to how the Browns used to use Eric Metcalf.

His quickness is unreal.

Referred to himself as the best player in the draft (link)

Overconfidence or does he have a case?

He has a Smitty attitude... He even compared himself to him. I have no problem with you saying your the best just as long as you go out and prove it on the field.

I wouldn't compare him to smitty in that regard. Tavon has always been quiet since he's been at wvu. Also I saw a journalist compare him to Steve smith but tavon usually says hes a mix of Percy harvin and welker from what I've seen

You could probably make a case for either but the reporter asked if he thought he was the best player at any position. I'd prefer a guy say what he said as opposed to "no I'm more of a 3rd best kind of guy." Now had he just come out and declared himself the best without being prompted that's a different story.

I might have been mistaken but I thought I saw an article about it....

Zero issues with his ability to stay healthy - he's a WR so he's not going to get banged by much bigger guys all that often.

He reminds me a lot of Smith - little undersized, but feisty as hell. I think he'll run a 4.5 at the Combine. If he runs a 4.4 he's a 2nd round pick.

He runs the best routes and has the best hands in the draft. He's not a burner, but he's quick enough. Very elusive too.

I'd happily take him in the 2nd.

In the game last year against Mo. Claiborne, I kept saying that he reminds me of Smith.
