Dex 13,316 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 Proehl, a former Panthers wide receiver, will now serve as the team's wide receivers coach. Proehl began his coaching career in 2011 as an offensive consultant for the team before serving as an assistant wide receivers coach in 2012. He will now work as the position coach for a unit led by former teammate Steve Smith, who recorded his seventh 1,000-yard season this year. "Ricky brings a great technical understanding of the wide receiver position and has good insight on our personnel at the position," Rivera said. "I have been very impressed with his work over the past two seasons." http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Shula-Proehl-promoted-Rodgers-retained-/00420dd9-7407-4aa8-b642-7a005ca2adb1

Floppin 5,744 Report post Posted January 19, 2013 Proehl, by all accounts, has been an awesome coach so far. He was a very cerebral and intelligent player that used his smarts to make up for his physical shortcomings. Those types of players usually make the best coaches because they realize and can teach the little things that help you to be successful, since they weren't able to rely on raw talent for success.
