Shula had Alstott in TB, not exactly your traditional blocking FB.

Just because he played FB for the first time in his career doesn't mean he's a true FB all of a sudden. We had the worst YPC average that we've had in several years, so i wouldn't say he blocked WELL. Yes, he is a big weapon on offense and i hope we keep him but he is far from a good blocker.
Sure, we can restructure, but i highly doubt Dwill is going to take the kind of money an average RB deserves. Runningbacks are a dime a dozen. We could fill his role with someone much cheaper. Why not spend that money on positions we actually need.
We can draft a receiver right after DT, safety, CB, and OL. Find me a day 1 starting WR in the 6th.
And I'm sure you are the exception for name calling. Is there anyone in this forum you haven't argued with?

This will be fun....

We had a bad YPC this season because of the read option, and a makeshift O-line due to numerous injuries... Tolbert RARELY lined up at FB as a lead blocker... Our RB's weren't even allowed to run downhill UNTIL Stew went down... So first off know what you're saying before you say it. You make it sound like Tolbert can't block anybody, when in fact he was rarely given the opportunity to do so. It's not like we ran outta the power I formation dude. We ran plays with Cam in the Gun with a RB beside him... Surprise read option

You want a starting WR to be drafted in the 6th???? LOL LOL
It happens but it's like winning the lottery.

RB's aren't a dime a dozen... Ask any team that didn't have one this year... Arizona, GB.... Especially of DeAngelo's caliber. He's a special talent

You don't know much about football do you?

That's on the makeshift O-Line hoss.... Tolbert did his job, all of our RB's were misused this year. I blame the lack of production on Chud/Makeshift O-Line.

Besides the point that we had horrible play calling, Tolbert was used as a blocking FB many times this year and I remember being disappointed more than once. I am not saying he can't do it, I am just saying that there are much better blocking FBs out there. Yes, I am very aware our offense had other problems but you can't say that our running game wouldn't be better with Brad Hoover in his prime than with Tolbert.

My point was we need to draft 4 other positions before WR.

And didn't GB just sign a car salesman as there starting running back? And if I'm not mistaken he had a better YPC average than Dwill. But anyway that's besides the point. I wouldn't be talking about getting rid of Dwill if we didn't have 2 other starting caliber RB's.

And yes, i do know a lot about football.

TOTALLY different positions.

FS - SS

ROLB - MLB - LOLB

UT - NT

OT - OG

All different positions.

Depends on scheme with the FS and SS....run a true Tampa 2 and they are pretty comparable players

our backfield doesnt need to be changed...period. maybe next season. but right now its great. tolbert blocks just fine and gets his job done. stop these stupid discussions and focus on where the money needs to be spent.. the o line.

I've been wanting the team to get a sledgehammer fullback for a long time.

That said, given his experience I might expect a Mike Alstodt type over a Lorenzo Neal/Howard Griffith "pure blocker" sort.
