Reportedly will be Chip Kelly's offensive coordinator with the Eagles.

Utterly retarded move by Kelly. The majority of the public isn't going to understand the level of control that Kelly is going to have over the offense and they will see this hire as a huge mistake made by an unprepared college coach.

Philly fans are going to rip him apart for this, especially if the offense sputters.

Purely OC in name only:

Ian Rapoport: The benefit for Pat Shurmur to work for Chip Kelly is obvious. Gets to learn the spread from Kelly, will make him a more well-rounded coach

Odd. Though sometimes there's a market for guys like Mike McCoy who can just sit there and do whatever anyone else wants them to do.

Which makes for a weird situation when that guy becomes head coach

kelly will succeed partly because he's smart enough to bring in people with NFL experience to fill out his coaching staff.

i expect what he builds at philly will be a streamlined and more potent version of what the offense is already used to there.

the guys not married to the read option. shurmur is there for his knowledge about the WCO which is about to get a kelly spin on it and make it relevant again.

yeah, I wasn't surprised that the guy who took a "promotion" to run Josh McDaniels' practices, then stayed for John Fox, then changed "his" offense for The Golden Calf of Bristol and then Manning, was the same guy to go to SD and hire a guy who runs a different offense. Guy is tofu.
