He's made controversial comments about President Obama before, and tonight, the controversy continued as Lupe Fiasco was removed from the stage during his performance at Hamilton Live in Washington D.C. Booked to perform in celebration of Obama's reelection, Lupe apparently performed an anti-war song, said that he did not vote for President Obama in November's election, then was asked to leave after refusing to move on to the next song after 30 minutes.

Above is a picture of Lupe Fiasco backstage at the event, and also a picture of him performing on stage. And below are detailed tweets from Josh Rogin, a popular political writer for Foreign Policy, who was in attendance at the show. Stay tuned for more details.

Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set.

So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn't vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the next song.

Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.

Was he not compensated to be there?

If he wanted to hold a free concert and was kicked out I would be on his side, That being said was he compensated for being there? If so I am ok with him being removed for having an anti obama stance.

lupe lost his mind right around lasers

a few months ago chief keef threatened him on twitter and he hinted that he would retire over it. for those of you who don't know mr. keef, he's an awful teenage rapper who may or may not have killed a rival teenage rapper

it's been a bad couple of years for mr. fiasco. his friend of the people mixtape was better than either of his 2 most recent albums by far (not sure if that says more about the tape or lasers/f&lI)

anyway i don't mind this as creative protest if you're a nobody but lupe has way more resources to use so it comes off as a bullshit publicity stunt

It appears he would have likely gotten away with some brief anti-war comments, but being a paid performer, 30 minutes of anti war talk is just begging to be pulled off stage. It is likely that is what he wanted to happen (great way to get your cause noticed) and might have been surprised how long it took to actually get the hook. I encourage Mr. Fiasco to continue his protests against the MIC, just to do it on his own dime/time.

Never heard of Mr. Fiasco, but the war hawks at the pentagon are now beating their war drums for our entrance into the Mali conflict in support the French. Oh good, now we can continue to justify our bloated military spending after our withdrawl from Afghanistan, how convenient. Last time we supported a French military campaign was in Vietnam, how well did that turn out?

Sweet ass, lets go support a French imperialistic war. Not to mention the fact that Mali has HUGE gold deposits. Might coincide with Germany recently demanding all of their French and US held gold?

I respect that kind of courage.

It was tacky to do it at the innauguration, but he is a young man with a point to make, and he did it. I agree with him too about the anti-war stuff.

He was forced by his record label to create an album like lasers....it was not his wish...he made a statement about it....
