Unless something dramatic happens I believe Fisher will be gone by 14. If I thought it was realistic I would have gladly penciled him in here. I want an OT in the first but just don't think the value will be there when we pick. When Matthews and Lewan opted to stay in school it really thinned the top of the OT field

I wouldn't say it would take something dramatic for Fisher to be available, but you're correct, its unlikely he's there since Lewan and Matthews are going back to school. Joeckel will be taken somewhere in the top five, and even if no one trades up for Fisher, the Chargers' number one need is left tackle, so they'll likely take him there.

I like the first two picks, not sold on the two after those. I'd rather take Rambo over Williams. Williams certainly has potential to be a quality starter, but so does Rambo, and whereas Rambo's play improved as the season went on, Williams' dipped. Depending on who's available I certainly wouldn't hate the pick, but at the same time I'd probably prefer other options.

Devin Taylor is similar to Williams, not someone I hate, but not someone I particularly like. I'm an SC fan, but he was really nothing more than a solid player for us. He's got the big frame you look for and the athletic potential so that late in the draft it wouldn't be bad, but he definitely needs to improve his technique and effort on the field if he wants to make it in the pros.

I agree with your assessment on both. I would like to have Rambo but think he will be gone by the time we pick in the 4th. The Taylor pick was more of a project due to the size he has. We hardly ever hit with late picks so I figured this was a swing for the fence type pick. If he improves his technique and learns he could be a steal. If not we waste a 5th round pick. Again.

been saying this for awhile. the value isnt there to take oline in the 1st if Fisher and Warmack are gone

Richardson is a UT which we don't need... Jesse Williams fits what we need

I don't understand that argument. Why don't we need a penetrating defensive tackle? Ron and Dwan, two thirty year-old castoffs, were our only good defensive tackles last year. Without even thinking about scheme, logic dictates that we need to add some young talent on the defensive line. And if we WERE to think about scheme, I would point out that disruptive, gashing defensive tackles are growing more valuable in a league that's all about the pass. A three-down UT is still a valuable addition to the defense.

I don't really mind Richardson but penciled in Williams because he is bigger, stronger and probably has a less controversial personality. That said if we went Richardson, I would not be upset

He's 6'4" so I don't think he'll have too much trouble adding ten or fifteen pounds to be more sturdy against the run.

It still won't help the defense with a tackling dummy at NT (Fua)... We have two good UT on the roster with D. Edwards and Neblet. I see us releasing Ron Edwards and then the only real NT we have is Fua so having Jesse Williams on this team would be a great thing
