I would not use the number 14 pick on a player as Raw as patterson. It will be 2 years before you see any returns on the pick.

Where are you getting that idea from?

Patterson is an automatic upgrade at receiver over,

Murphy, Gettis, Adams, Pilares, and possibly even LaFell if Brandon has hit his full potential.

He would be an automatic upgrade at PR/KR also, no doubt.

Don't let the sloppy route running scare you. What rookie DOESN'T have to work on their route running at the next level?

Even with sloppy route running, patterson's speed and play making ability makes him more valuable than everyone but Smitty.

He is raw as raw can be at the WR position. He runs bad routes has suspect hands (letting the ball get to his body to much) and has 1 year of actually playing the position at a high level.

Poor route running and some occasional drops. The two most common knocks on a receiver every year.

His size and speed alone will force a team to take him in the first, so don't go betting any money on that lol.

And I hate the 1 year of college ball argument. I'm sure Cam Newton does too. It's rather laughable especially when Patterson absolutely dominated the SEC.

Patterson's combine will make or break him, but regardless I think he will produce at the next level. He's got way too much potential and skill to fail.

that is not true. the 2 things that he needs to work on, he will work on everyday for the rest of his career. dominated the JC level and the SEC in 2 years like a player that is already on this team. he automatically becomes the #3 WR that will push Lafell in TC for a starting spot.

The only reason he becomes the 3rd wr is because he was picked 14th.

He will be given a job to justify the pick.

Again he runs bad routes doesn't have a full understanding of the route tree and his hands are sub par. In a better wr year he wouldn't be a 1st 2 day pick. He is a project and is a stupid pick in the round maybe even second.
