Anyone else remember what our running game was like with a healthy Jeff Otah?

That's what having a guy like Fluker would do again.

I'll grant though, that if you're drafting based on need, guard is a bigger need. I'm just not convinced that Bell is ever gonna be the kind of Leonard Davis type road grader that someone like Fluker could be.

unfortunately I don't think he'll be there with Matthews and Lewan heading back to school. I would take him in a heartbeat if he was there though.

Which of these scenarios sounds more reasonable with pick #14?

- Drafting Chance Warmack to play right guard

- Drafting D J Fluker to play right tackle and moving Byron Bell to guard

Warmack would certainly make a huge difference with his run blocking ability. He get's great leverage and has a lot of power with his massive lower body.

I don't really want Bell at OG because he's not really built for it imo. I'm not crazy about Bell at RT either because he's a little too slow in pass blocking situations. Quicker DEs can exploit his lack of speed. He's decent at RT, but there's room for an upgrade if we want to go that route. I would want to upgrade RT if Cam were razor sharp and knew our offense like the back of his hand, and could carve up opposing defenses on a consistant basis. He's simply not there yet, so we have to make our rushing attack the focal point. Now if Fluker is going to be a big upgrade in run blocking, then he's also a draft target imo.

I'd rather leave Bell at RT and add Warmack to RG. Our read option and premium (extremely expensive) RBs, including Cam rushing, would benifit the most from adding Warmack. We're locked into massive contracts with our RBs, so we need to get as much out of them as possible. Winning in the trenches is the most effective way for this team to take control of a game. Ryan and Brees are far ahead of Cam as QBs, but Cam is cheaper, so we can add and keep better talent on our lines to make up the difference.

Warmack easy. Would like Fluker if available in 2 and he may be. It's up in the air right now if Fluker can stay outside in the NFL.

I don't know who I'd take between the two, although I've long said that I think Bell is better suited at RG. He had a great season and showed a lot of improvement at tackle this year, but I think he can be a dominant guard.

But, I have to admit, if we draft Fluker, for some reason I will always hear this when he is mentioned:
