Pau Gasol to Charlotte Bobcats- rumor...

Why does so many people want to give Milsap the max?

best young big guy we could hope to get....and we can afford him. By thowing big money

at him, we don't have to give up assets. Plus he's young enough to be a part of the core

we're building around.

I just think he's the best choice for Charlotte, but I'm open to any young tall talent that will

stay to help build the team.

Oh don't get me wrong I am a fan of Paul Millsap... he's a very solid starter at PF. He gives you good offense with average rebounding and defense... but a max player he is not. He's a 15/8 guy at best with average defense. I'd throw something like 4/50 at him at most. He's a solid piece, but realistically he is a #3 or #4 option on a good team.

Gasol will do what for this team? He is a shell of himself and has broken down with the deep playoff runs and olympic teams he participates in. Even Mark Gasol is reeling this season a bit.

This is a terrible move. Pau will be the best player of the team but they gain more by being awful..

The sooner this team gets to the point where Biyombo sits near the end of the bench and comes in for key defensive situations only, the better. The guy has no offensive game at all, and Haywood and Diop look rather unskilled with the basketball or trying to secure rebounds. We need a big man that is worth a damn as soon as possible.

right....but other big market teams like the Lakers will offer him 4/50. In order to get him into Charlotte, I think we'll have to overpay. 2 or 3 years from now when it all comes together, and we're contenders

for a conference crown, it should be easier to get FA's to Charlotte.

for now, I'm afraid we'll have to bite the bullet. But at least we can afford it.

I get the idea, though I'm not sure Milsap is the guy I would target because he is getting older. Not sure who we could realistically go after, since any bigs worth a damn are making bank once they hit the free agent market (see Lopez and Hibbert getting the max last year).

Long term I think its pretty clear that the team would be better off getting a high pick this year AND next year, but it will be tough convincing fans to get behind another shitty season next year and there will be pressure to make a splash

I thought Milsap was fairly young. If we can get a great player in the draft this year, and a great

player in FA, we could be decent next year, perhaps mid-draft range. We have to give up a first

rounder in the next 4 years, but we get 2 extra. Maybe we could throw in one of those with our

first next year to move up and get another key piece without having to lose so many games.

I'm in for the long haul, and I like what Cho has done a lot. Maybe I'm just a little impatient. lol.

I'm sorry, and not to be brash, but that's backwards thinking. You can't just go around throwing large amounts of money (let alone max contracts) to non all-stars. We cannot afford it... no team can. I'll just say that I'll be extremely disappointed if the Bobcats offer Millsap max money, but thankfully Cho wouldn't do something like that (neither would any GM) lol.

Milsap to a Max contract would be equilivant to Antwan Jamison getting the Max and Jamison was a better player.

I agree no Max contract unless there is a need and fit.

    • This rookie class really seems like a group of hungry football players, not just athletes.  Guys like CMC, Samuel, Moton etc.. all seem like they are gym rats with a passion for the game.  Pair them up with this stellar locker room and film rats like Luke and this could be Gettlemans best draft ever.  Give me guys with football intelligence and passion for the game over egotistical  athletic freaks all day.
    • So you are saying we should ignore all the wrongs of history and the wrongs of present day?  Our country isn't ignoring race.  What you're saying isn't rooted in what the reality is, because when we do look at race, we see how ugly this country is.  Once things are set right, once injustice has been redressed, then I'll be satisfied.  How many times have black people had to start over in this country?  I'm tired of ignoring race, only to have my stuff burned down again and starting over.
    • So you choose to look at people based on race instead of them as an individual person. When you put it that way, you'll never be satisfied. Grouping people into race categories that have nothing to do with a person's character, personality, or any of the sort will always show a variation in data across all groups under that category. It's virtually impossible to make race groups all the same due to the fact it has nothing to do with any one of those people's characteristics, which are random and probability showing it's impossible for everything to be equal.
