Something I've noticed, only since moving out of the South about a year ago. People I meet here in North Arizona that are from the South, can't wait to talk about the south. Northern Arizona is basically California West. It is the most liberal place I've ever been, and I'm from Rhode Island. Anyway, I've meet a couple of folks from all of the south east, and we get together and talk about how different things are, were we are from etc. If you meet a random person from Vermont or whatever they don't care that they're from Vermont, and neither do you. The South however seems to have a special place in all of our hearts. I don't know what makes it so unique. Whatever..this thread was pointless..

I'm constantly amazed with how often this type of directional mistake is made when talking about US geography. It's like when people call the Panthers the "Chargers West".

I love the south and all my friends and family who have relocated to NYC can't wait to come back after they have their fill.
The one thing that frustrates me is the racist/homophobic stereotype we get from northerners. I think we are generally less of those things and the racism that I see up north is absolutely shocking.
Girls are prettier in the south too.

the north is quite racist and homophobic... it's just the racism and homophobia isn't as institutionalized... which does make a big difference.
