Find something to do when your mind is wanting them libations... My alcohol consumption is increased during football season, then I cut way back just because I dont have the excuse until next season... I dont drink to have a good time, but why start a fire with sticks & flint when I got a lighter?

I like my cocktail and I collect wine.

Having lived in Europe and a few other places I can tell you that the attitude towards alcohol is somewhat puritanical in the USA. We tend to frown upon healthy moderation.

But I'm honest with myself in that I would be 20lbs lighter if I were abstinent.

Ben Franklin said it best. everything in moderation.

but im not going to dive into pro's or cons of what groups can do or not. if you feel the need for help, act on it and get it.

good luck man

I drink quite a bit, too much actually.

I rarely drink liquor, only beers and wine for me. I don't get behind the wheel, and do most of it while at my house watching a movie, cooking, enjoying the company of my girl.

"moderation in everything" ≠ "everything in moderation"

I cooled it on the liquor after college and that really helped. Learned the hard way that sparked the change but you live and you learn.

Also, those meetings are good just to at least get a perspective on things. Even if its just a binging or over-use problem and not yet a dependency issue, it helps having that extra outlet to vent.

...and pstall on point as usual haha
