Cam2Ligit2Quit 1,244 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 Rivera said linebacker Jon Beason had successful shoulder surgery this month after undergoing knee surgery in the fall. Beason has played in only five games since signing a five-year, $51.5 million contract extension before the 2011 season. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/01/22/3805674/source-panthers-to-promote-ken.htmlhttp://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/01/22/3805674/source-panthers-to-promote-ken.html more of a reason to move on from him... he will have a high risk of re-injuring, if he was a WR or a QB it wont be that big of a deal but you need a healthy shoulder to tackle

Cam2Ligit2Quit 1,244 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 I remember when people were calling for Thomas Davis' job too... yea tru but you need your shoulder tackle, especially if he plans to play the middle and command such a high cap figure

carpantherfan84 462 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 Beason was TD's main workout partner and according to him, a major source of inspiration when he was ready to quit. I know the contract is a B*&%$ but TD restructured and Beason cares just as much about the team.
jtnc 3,667 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 yea tru but you need your shoulder tackle, especially if he plans to play the middle and command such a high cap figure He's not playing in the middle next season, Rivera already established that.
rscott94 662 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 yea tru but you need your shoulder tackle, especially if he plans to play the middle and command such a high cap figure Agreed but being out for two season I feel he will rework his contract... I highly doubt Rivera will put Beason back in the middle and if he does that was his worse decsion besides making Shula OC (badum tshhh)

rscott94 662 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 J Beezy is ray Lewis jr. With unfortunate injuries. I can actually see that.... Pretty good comparison, I wish we had Baltimore's medical staff they'd have Beason fixed in no time

TheRumGone 14,896 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 I think we are forgetting the "team" concept. Which I believe Rivera has built in these first two years. Beason is gonna have to check his ego. And i don't mean that in a negative way. He's gonna have to buy in. And I think he will, and I think he has. He doesn't have to be back to the 100% Beason that we all know and love. He just has to play his part. And i believe he can play that part at a high level. We could possibly have the best linebacking core in the NFL. If Keek, Davis, and Beason play their roles effectively. We could have a dominating top 5 defense next year, with the addition of FA cheap role players that Gettleman is known to bring in.
