Good point. But the disgruntled will have you believe Rivera never had a plan B to begin with.

Rivera probably did know that the posibility of Chud leaving was high. When it finally happened, he had a small pool from which to pick. He wanted Norv, but lost out. So he picked Shula out of what he had.

Was Shula the best choice. Probably at this time yes. There are times when you only get what you can, and not what you actually want. This is one of those times.

I love how the disgruntled CLAIM that it is a one year gig anyway. They just know we are going to fail. You cannot dissway them. So you might as well let them grumble. To me it is entertaining. The negativity is funny, maybe not entirely unwarranted, but funny none the less.

for prospective candidates this had to have been viewed as a one year gig at best because it was only a week earlier that the owner was trying to decide whether or not to keep him here.

rivera hasn't proven he can do the job. he doesn't have the job secured for more than this coming year and it seems he only barely got to keep it that long.

that's not hate. that's just being observant.

First off, what prospective candidates were out there. It is not like Rivera had a full deck from which to pick.

Rivera has proven he can adapt and grow. That to me, and to some, is proof he has what it takes to get us where we want to go. He has admitted his mistakes, has shown a willingness to adapt his thinking, and the team seems to buy into his phylosophy. Those are facts as well.

What you see, and what I see are the gist of this argument. I saw growth, you seemed to miss it or dismiss it altogether.

The truth is, no one knows the future. Some of us see a brighter future than others. Does that mean we are right and you are wrong? No, but it also doesn't mean you are right and we are wrong.

The powers that be are trying to do this right. Some of us are happy with this idea.

I understand people when they say Norv is a great offensive mind and is still a damn good OC in the league, but considering we already have Rivera (at least for one more season), I'm glad we didn't bring him in. The Chargers during his tenure knew how to underachieve but by the end of every season look like the best damn set of underachievers in the league. They'd disappoint on the whole but look just good enough to keep the ball rolling and convince everyone they could make the big dance year in and year out.

Eerily similar to what we already have, so I'm glad we didn't have to basically be a crutch for a dissipating San Diego staff in a do-or-die season with Captain Ron.

rivera has shown he can adapt and grow. i just think it's too slow and the ceiling is too low.

have i once said that you were wrong for feeling like you do? nope. have you done that to me and the other "disgruntled" ones. absolutely.

i know that they are trying to do it right. the question is whether they are capable of doing it or not. i don't think they are, or at least not for a another couple years. and that's on what i've observed and i'm not happy with that idea and i want desperately to be proven wrong.

1 could also say, the job will be quite attractive even if River fails, cause they would have an inside track to be promoted to head coach by proving themselves.

I have never said anyone was wrong for how they feel. Just because I am entertained by the disgruntled, does not make them any less a fan. I, and some others, are just frustrated by all the negativity and bashing going on round here. So I say something about it, and you claim I am not playing fair.

Every thread has more negativity and snarkiness than anything positive. That gets old for the few of us that are still optimistic. So I rail against the main stream feeling of fug this team.

I readily admit that the Panthers have earned every negative they got in the past. However, I just don't feel like living in the past. I like thinking things are getting better. I like thinking we are now in a position to make headway towards our ultimate goal. I like to think we have what it takes to make a strong run at that goal.

I don't have bad feelings for the disgruntled. I feel sorry for them. Their living in the darkness of Hurney is blinding them from what just may be an exciting future. That does not make me right. It just makes me different from a lot of Huddlerz who seem to prefer the gloom and doom.

Oh, and GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or it could be that Norv decided to jump on board with Chud and a new regime who is virtually guaranteed a couple of years to turn things around instead of jumping on board with Rivera who was almost fired mid-season and is viewed as a lame duck coach.

All this constant negativity has the Huddle falling down my lists of place to visit. If I wanted to hate the Panthers I couldn't do better than hanging around here.

I'll see you all in the preseason.

Good thing you won't be around when Senior Gettleman busts 20+Mill out of our roster. That Huddle meltdown is going to be a never ending sea of woe..

Bonus Fun Fact: We're already over 20M the projected 2014 number! Thanks Hurney !!

As far as Ron getting beat to Norv, I'm used to watching Ron get beat..

Chud and Norv have been talking and planning that all season that's why the offense sputtered until the plan was worked out.

I don't believe for one second chud didn't know he had a hc job lined up.

If Cleveland got chip Kelly I don't think chud would have gotten hired anywhere else imo

This... anyone that is not expecting this team to be blew up next year is holding onto fools gold. Its why newly fired coaches are avoiding it. Its a one and done deal and that's why we got the Ron Meeks of OCs.
